“FRIENDLY FIRE on tour as part of the advance screenings for the German Film Prize:

Friendly Fire celebrated its premiere in 2025 as the opening film of the DokFest Munich. In the film, Klaus Fried follows the traces of his famous father, the poet Erich Fried.

The film was also nominated for the Clio – the Moving History Festival Prize.

In the film, Klaus Fried follows the traces of his famous father, the poet Erich Fried.

Festival director Daniel Sponsel (Munich): “The film by Klaus Fried and Julia Albrecht is a gift at the right time, thematically highly topical, full of ambivalence and a complex family saga. Erich Fried united the most violent contradictions as an artist and a person: as a displaced Jewish emigrant from National Socialist Germany, he became a strict critic of Israeli politics. As a left-wing pacifist, he sought an exchange with the self-confessed neo-Nazi Michael Kühnen. His love life only partially follows his sensitive poetry on the subject. As a father, he remains a mystery to his son Klaus: larger than life and yet deeply human.”
