In FORBIDDEN FRUITS, Bianca Gleissinger uses honest self- and social criticism to explore the question of whether, in times of body positivity and Instagram filters, we haven’t gotten tangled up in similarly toxic areas of tension like our mothers and grandmothers. The director chooses a stirring, narrative construct for this autobiographical film. As a subjective narrator, she explores her own experiences, dating back to her youth, with the expectations of female body images and an excessive diet madness – almost as a prescribed chain contract with her own insecurities.
