Patong Girl
a film by Susanna Salonen
Germany | 2013 | Feature film | 95 min | HDcam SR/DCP
The Schröder family on their last Christmas holiday together on the Thai holiday island of Phuket. In the notorious tourist stronghold of Patong, of all places, the eighteen-year-old son Felix falls in love with the beautiful Thai girl Fai. Fai is also on holiday here – she comes from Isaan in the north of Thailand. Felix’s older brother and his mother Annegret are convinced that Fai is a prostitute. But older brothers are really just annoying, and parents anyway. Because Felix is simply enraptured by the beautiful and enigmatic Fai. And she returns his feelings! Painful farewell at the end of the holiday. On the way to the airport, Felix spontaneously decides to simply stay longer in Thailand. His parents are horrified: this is never what was meant by “you have to follow your heart”! While Felix follows his Fai to the Thai province – without knowing the real secret of the beautiful woman – he has no idea that his worried mother is already hot on their heels.
